Note: I have also seen solutions based on running W95/98 under DosBox on the Pi. I think a better solution would be more of a "VM" type solution - like you get when you run WIndows under a VM under regular (x86) Linux. Wine is one of those things that is amazing that it works at all - and it does actually work pretty well (I've used it a lot in the distant past), but it doesn't work with all Windows software, and when you hit a wall, you hit it hard. Note, BTW, that many of the "solutions" end up depending on Wine. So, the bottom line is: What is the best way? I've seen lots of threads over the years on this topic - they all seem to work to varying degrees (not that I've actually tried any of them). Anyway, that thread looks interesting, but rather involved to actually do all the steps. Note: If you feel like bashing the desire to run Windows, don't bother posting here.ġ) I am in a situation where I'd actually like to get this going mostly because, given that W10 is cr*p, it's not really possible to buy a Windows PC or laptop on the regular market these days.Ģ) The best way to do this is probably to buy an x86 based SBC without any OS and get Windows running there.
